Privacy Policy

Spendwise AI helps users track expenses, income, receipts, imports, trips, budgets, and AI-powered financial insights.

Data You Enter

Spendwise AI stores financial data you enter in the app, including:

• Expenses and income records
• Categories and merchants
• Budgets and trip expenses
• Receipt text and imported transaction text
• App preferences such as currency and PIN settings

All data you enter is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to any server unless you explicitly use an AI feature.

AI Processing

AI processing is optional. Before Spendwise AI sends any data for AI processing, the app asks for your permission and explains what data is sent, who processes it, and how it is used.

When you use AI features such as receipt parsing, PDF/bank import parsing, AI chat, forecasts, spending insights, or trip currency rate refresh, the app sends only the relevant data needed to answer your request — such as OCR text, receipt text, imported statement text, or summarised financial data — to the Spendwise AI server-side proxy. The proxy calls Anthropic Claude to return the requested result.

• The Anthropic API key is never stored inside the iOS app
• Receipt images are never uploaded — only the extracted text is sent
• AI data is used solely to provide the requested app functionality
• AI data is not used by Spendwise AI for advertising or tracking

Purchases

Spendwise AI uses Apple In-App Purchase for Pro subscriptions. Apple processes all subscription payments. Spendwise AI reads the active App Store entitlement in the app to unlock the Pro AI usage tier. We never have access to your payment card or billing details.

Usage Limits

To manage monthly AI usage, Spendwise AI sends a randomly generated app install identifier and subscription tier to the server-side proxy. This identifier is used only to count monthly AI calls and is not linked to your identity, Apple ID, or any personal information. It is not used for advertising or tracking.

Data Sharing

Spendwise AI does not sell user data and does not use user data for third-party advertising or tracking. Data is shared only with service providers needed to operate requested app features:

• Supabase — to operate the Spendwise AI server-side proxy and monthly AI usage controls
• Anthropic Claude — to process AI requests you initiate, under Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy
• Apple — for In-App Purchase processing and App Store distribution

These providers are used only to provide the requested app functionality and are expected to protect data with the same or equivalent safeguards, including encrypted transmission and limited processing for the requested service.

Security

Financial data is protected by the app's PIN and optional biometric lock. The PIN is stored in the system Keychain as a SHA-256 hash — the raw PIN is never stored. All AI requests are sent through HTTPS to the Spendwise AI proxy.

Your Rights

You can delete all your data at any time by going to Settings → Reset All Data within the app, or by deleting the app from your device. You can export all data to Excel from the Summary screen at any time.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
